This is an interview with Tom Delonge about the new music, the tour, and other things having to do with the bands new emergence. It's a not a small one so put on a cup of coffee before you sit down.

The world needs Blink-182. That's an undeniable fact.

The Southern California punk rockers are bringing "fun" back to rock music this summer with their highly anticipated reunion tour. Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker are officially back. It's a momentous occasion for so many twenty-somethings who fondly asked "What's My Age Again?" while watching American Pie in 1999. There are a lot of them too! They'll be filling up venues to see Blink-182 rock all summer, and there's no doubt that San Diego's finest will deliver the goods.

In many ways, Blink-182 are the perfect American rock band. Their songs are infectious, fast, hilarious and party-ready. What's a better cure for all of the U.S.'s problems right now? Nothing, really.

Vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge spoke to ARTISTdirect.com in this exclusive interview about Blink's comeback, the summer tour, the future, swearing a lot and why their stage show will be the perfect cross between George Carlin and Iron Maiden.

Are you ready to hit the road?

I think…I'm not packed [Laughs].

How does it feel to be back with Blink-182?

It's awesome. It's kind of tripping me out a little bit. I'm completely blown away by the size and the enormity of this tour. We're doing 30,000 people in multiple cities; it's insane.

Blink-182 really captured a crucial period in a lot of fans' lives. You're going to have fans in their late '20s at the shows that were super into you in high school. Does that trip you out?

Yeah, it does. Maybe they're bringing younger brothers or something too—packing it down. It's not like the band has been on the radio and really present over the past few years [Laughs]. I think it's going to be amazing, and I hope the fans get what they're looking for. I will be there to see if we're good too [Laughs].

What do you plan on giving them?

I think it's going to be the most amount of rock production that you can do with the most amount of bad words mixed together in a beautiful soup.

So George Carlin meets Iron Maiden?

Yes! That's a really, really great way to look at it [Laughs]. I think so.

What sparked the urge for you guys to get back together and hit the road?

I think there's no real secret that after Travis' accident the band was able to very quickly brush aside all of the old bullshit that we had. Inevitably the conversation comes up like, "What are we going to do? Are we going to jam again?" No one had any objections to it. I'm in the middle of recording an Angels & Airwaves album and finishing up the motion picture we've been doing for three years, so I have a lot of other things going on as well. Those guys are producing. Travis is playing with DJ AM. I think we all said, "Well shit, maybe we could do a tour?" The next thing you know all of the agents and managers got fired up and, bam, we have the biggest tour of our career. As slow as we were going, everyone else was running, and here we are. It's catching us by surprise. I think it's really going to be an electric experience for the fans. This is going to be a brilliant tour.

When you guys first got back into the rehearsal room was the chemistry instantly there again?

We didn't start playing at first. We just started hanging and then we started bouncing ideas from studio to studio. In many ways, it was! There's a crude sense of humor that never went away. There were some big conversations in the beginning obviously about how we got to where we are now and who we are. Also we talked about where we were over the past few years. It was a little awkward at the beginning, but it wasn't that big of a deal considering what Travis went through. We were able to brush all of that shit aside really quickly.

You guys grew up together and you have a bond that you can't ever really break.

That's exactly what it is. Things that are great inevitably hurt bands. When you grow up, get married and have kids, then your priorities have to be directed towards your family, you know? It's not simply you and your buddies traveling in a van, doing whatever you want and leaving the city the next morning. Once you have families involved, it's really not about that. You have to make all these plans and put in all these controls that safeguard that element of your life. I think that's what starts to pull at bands and make things more difficult as you go on. With Blink, we spent so many years together that there was definitely so much history. This tour seems like we're reliving the good parts—which was a lot of it. It's going to come across really well.

Do you feel like your different as men and musicians now? What's the general consensus?

Yeah, we are different. Mark does a lot of producing, mostly in the scene which we came out of. Travis has been doing all of these hip hop things, producing and doing collaborations. I've been producing. God, with Angels & Airwaves, we've produced all of our own records, there's the feature film and we've done crazy epic documentaries. There's a lot of experience after Blink. So to come back into this, it's interesting. I remember thinking in one way we were going to pull a lot of these elements in and in the other way, it works just the way it is. It's funny because I think about when I went to see The Police play. I was imagining and asking, "What are they going to do?" Sting was taking all of these people on stage with him and he was doing all of these crazy New Age type songs and shit. Then all of a sudden, you see The Police play and they had an epic stage show but the songs and the way they played them were very stripped down and how they always were. I think that's what people want to hear. It's a long-winded answer, but I'm basically saying we have a lot of experience and we've changed a lot and we want to pull in some of those elements, but at the same time, Blink works in a very specific way. That's with me really drunk saying a lot of bad words.

Your setup with LiveNation for the $20 tickets is really encouraging for fans too.

Yeah, I think that, in many ways, Blink was the sum of modern suburban America. The tour is going to have this sense of nostalgia. It is what it is and you don't need to tamper with it too much. People are coming there for a very specific reason, and they're going to get it.

You guys were the summer of '99 for a lot of people, and there's going to be a real happy vibe all around.

We're a very summertime band. That's one of the great things about coming out of San Diego. We played really fast. I grew up skateboarding my entire life. I know to a degree, it was for Travis, we grew up worshipping the band The Descendents—another Southern California punk band singing about girls, friends and food. That pretty much sums up your early high school career for a lot of people. The cool thing was, we never took ourselves too seriously. We took we did very seriously and we tried to write the best songs that we could, but we never got so full of ourselves that if we fucked up we'd get pissed. If we ever fucked up on stage, it always made the show better. We'd play the show three more times, sometimes in the dark to prove we could play it. I think the spontanaeity of it is what really gave the people the feeling that they could do it too [Laughs]. They'd see us doing it, and they'd be like, "Oh my God, we could do that!" That's the beauty of punk rock music! That's what U2 said about The Ramones. They saw The Ramones play and said, "We could do that too!" I think that's what Blink is.

You guys gave kids a different kind of release. You came out at the end of grunge and existed throug Korn's era. Whereas Korn gave kids a raw catharsis, you provided a different catharsis. It was fun and more about the party.

I think that's a really good take. Obviously all of the Nirvanas of the world and the Korns and Limp Bizkits were going on at the time. However, Green Day and Offspring were very different from Blink even though we were all in the punk scene. I think we were the first band that was probably full of as much personality as we were of hooks—maybe even to our detriment [Laughs]. I think people related to us three. We were all so different. Mark is like the more relatable mainstream guy. Travis really is that hip hop, grew-up-in-a-bad-neighborhood kind of kid. I'm very much the snotty indie rocker art guy or something [Laughs]. To be honest, I don't really like indie rock that much though [Laughs]. I don't know how to describe it because I listen to Arcade Fire, Mark listens to Motion City Soundtrack and Travis listens to The Game [Laughs].

With Blink, kids could have their own favorite member. That was missing throughout the '90s because bands became more and more singular in terms of identity. You three were all so different.

Yeah, we really were. It was great. With Blink, everybody related to a very specific person. That's funny that you say that. I've truly come to sense that over the years. Actually, I saw it massively when the band broke up because there were waves of people spitting venom at each other depending on which band they liked [Laughs].

It's a testament to everything coming together and working the way it did. You were more like a classic rock band in the sense that each band member was extremely different, like Led Zeppelin. They even had their own symbols.

It's true, and I agree. There are so many conversations to this day about who was really responsible for the better part of Pink Floyd, which singer [Laughs]. I grew up hearing all of that stuff. People would ask, "Who was your favorite guy in The Beatles?" Blink always aspired to have that healthy challenge at least as far in the sense of songwriting. We loved the idea that Lennon and McCartney were always trying to push each other to be better. Mark and I always tried. I don't think anyone would put Blink and Beatles in the same sentence, but I will because, fuck, I can [Laughs].

Well you captured a time for a lot of fans, so that makes a lot of sense. You were their Beatles.

Maybe we were like the semi-retarded Beatles to them [Laughs]. I'm going to repeat one of the coolest quotes I've ever heard. Pete Townshend came to San Diego speaking and doing a solo thing in front of a large audience. I had the story relayed back to me that Pete was telling the audience that his kid asked him how to play a Blink song. Some of the older people in the audience were chuckling and he was like, "No, you don't understand. To my kid, Blink is The Who." That, to me, was such a validation obviously. That's beyond. I don't really believe anybody would want to repeat that except those kids, but it makes sense. The kids that grew up with our band weren't going to grow up listening to The Who, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. They needed their own band to relate to. It's like that with every generation. We were a modern rock band—just like The Who was for their time. I think it's really important for critics not to give new bands shit because there might be an old band that did it better. That's not the point. Every generation needs their own band to do what it is they do for them.

You had a certain spirit that permeated everything. There was time where your fun vibe so important and necessary right around the turn of the century.

How bad do people want that now? The economy is in ruins. We've had a couple wars. It seems like it's not getting any better. So why don't we all get together and make at least a one-evening revolution. That's why I grew up listening to punk rock music. That's why slam-dancing was an important thing for kids. You've got to get your aggression out some way. You've got to go out and vent. I think it's great however people do it. Whether they join these weird dance clubs in East L.A. or they go and slam around in a circle to a punk rock band, they need to express themselves.

What's after this tour? Are you going to do an album or are you right back to Angels?

Well, that's the big debate—how do we fit it all in, how's the tour going to go and how are we going to get along. Right now, everything's amazing. None of us expect that anything is going to go past this. There's so much success already permeating around this tour. For me, the big issue is I'm dropping a motion picture and an album for free right after the first of the year with Angels. It's the biggest, most massive release of my entire career and probably the greatest work of my life to this date, so I'm going to be a little busy with that. But, we're getting offers for Blink to headline the biggest shows in the entire world. So it's like, "What are we going to do? Can we get out there?" It's not an easy thing to have two bands that are doing really well, so I don't know! I'm open to whatever. Blink's going to release a song, we started working on some great music. It comes so natural to Blink. The new song is so good. It sounds like us, but it's got an element of Rush in it. I think people are going to love it. It's like Rush, Floyd and Blink all in the same song. It'll make people excited for what comes next. We've just got to figure out the schedule, I guess.

Tour 09 Blink 182 - The Guys Talk About "Up All Night" and Some Tour Specifics

Blink 182's tour for 2009 really sounds like it's going to be anything but small. I'm almost convinced that this particular tour for Blink 182 may go down in history as some sort of momentous event. Anyway, check out this Blink 182 interview with Billboard. Tom Delonge talks about the tour, their new song, and even mentions AVA in there somewhere.

Blink-182 To Unveil 'Up All Night' On Tour
Having abandoned the idea of completing a full new album as "too ambitious" before its upcoming tour, blink-182 will instead have one new song ready before it hits the road on July 23 in Las Vegas.

Guitarist Tom DeLonge tells Billboard.com that the track, titled "Up All Night," has "got a little bit of (Pink) Floyd, a little bit of Rush, a little bit of blink in there. It's crazy, but it somehow sounds exactly like where we left off (in 2005). It's an amazing song."

DeLonge says the tune is nearly finished, waiting just for Travis Barker to complete his drum tracks. Release plans haven't been determined yet.

The guitarist explains that he, Barker and bassist Mark Hoppus fully intended to complete an album but the success of the tour derailed that idea. "I think nobody realized how massive this tour was going to be," DeLonge says. "The tickets outsold what the promoters expected, three to one. So everyone's trying to play catch-up right now and really nail this tour to be the best it can be and get everything ready, so there's no studio time right now. Everyone's so busy just trying to make this thing happen, I think."

DeLonge says blink-182 fans can expect to hear plenty of hits in a two-hour set that will feature "massive production and arcs in the show that involve lots of bad words...The talks this morning were hot to incorporate the word 'fuck' in such a way that it somehow is parallel if not better than when it was lit on fire 10 years ago."

That, of course, poses an interesting conundrum for DeLonge and his bandmates, who did not have children in the days of the flaming Fuck sign. "

I remember on the very first song of some of these larger tours we did, when the big Fuck sign lit on fire, parents would stand up and walk their kids out," says DeLonge, who's also working on a film and movie project called "Love" with his other band, Angels & Airwaves. "Now I feel like that's what I'm gonna be doing, but to my own (six-year-old) daughter. I'm gonna have to leave the stage to go walk her out. "

A DJ explained it really good to me once; 'I tell my kid it's not bad if it's art. If you're not doing art, you can't say words like that.' I thought that was a really good way to handle it."

Blink 182 Rabbit - Mark Hoppus Reveals Another Prototype

The Blink 182 rabbit is back with yet ANOTHER look. I liked the rabbit that was shown in an earlier post, but these Blink 182 rabbits are pretty boss. You can see two rabbits, one large and one small, without faces since they're just prototypes. I really hope these things go out on the market very soon because I'm dying to see one up close.

This may be an attempt at controversy, among other things, but still a sign of pride. Even though this is a small gesture, I believe that no small thing goes unnoticed.

These pictures of Blink 182 are really quite dazzling. I love it when photographers use a wide-angle lens instead of a small one to get those "fish-eye" pictures. As you can tell from these pictures and the videos I posted yesterday, Blink 182's concert was no small thing. I was a little bummed that they didn't play "All The Small Things" at their shows. That would have made my day, but check out these sweet pictures of Blink 182.

Blink-182: In love, and spitting bile

It might have been just another rote evening of late night TV talk show programming. But a funny thing happened at a taping of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in Hollywood on Tuesday. Blink-182 showed up to play a couple of songs -- an effort to drum up attention for the multi-platinum-selling pop-punk trio's North American stadium tour, which kicks off July 24 in Las Vegas.

And suddenly, a full-blown rock concert broke out.

In just their fourth public performance after a five-year "hiatus" as a group, guitarist-singer Tom DeLonge, bassist-singer Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker performed energetic run-throughs of two of Blink's biggest Warped Tour hits, "What's My Age Again?" and "Dammit" for Kimmel's cameras. Then, glancing at each other from across the stage with barely contained class clown glee, they decided they were having too much fun to leave.

You'd never have guessed that only a year ago the band mates hadn't recaptured that lovin' feeling toward each other, and a detente -- let alone a Blink-182 reunion -- seemed hopelessly out of reach. (An upcoming story in The Times will shed more light on what brought them back together.)

"I love you. Travis," Hoppus drawled into the mike between songs, prompting DeLonge to elucidate for the crowd: "It's a physical thing."

"And I love you, Tom DeLonge," Hoppus continued, just before the trio launched into their single "Down."

With Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and wife Ashlee Simpson looking on from backstage, and flanked by a gaggle of the group's preteen children sitting on an overstuffed sofa, Blink performed eight songs (not including an off-the-cuff improv cover of the Beastie Boys' "High Plains Drifter") over the course of an hour. Among them: "Feeling This," "Dumpweed," "Reckless Abandon" and "Josie (Everything's Gonna Be Fine)."

"We haven't performed some of these songs in seven years," DeLonge said. "Expect us to screw them up!"

It was in part a reward for fans who had been waiting five hours to see Blink; dozens were led up to a viewing area on the rooftop of a nearby building, where they screamed wildly. Hundreds of others hung out in alleys surrounding the concert area, taking in the jocular, snotty tunage even though they had been unable to secure tickets.

But moreover, with all of Hoppus and DeLonge's crude sexual double-entendres and frat boy repartee -- par for the course for a group that never met a fart joke it didn't love -- the mini-concert seemed more like a declaration of purpose than a tour warm-up. The implicit message was that Blink-182 is back and as solid as ever -- that its tour isn't going to be some kind of halfhearted, profit-driven road slog even if it is one of Blink's biggest paydays to date. (At least, that's what they said during our interview. But again, we get ahead of ourselves.)

When the performance was nearly finished, Hoppus exhorted the crowd that it had seen history in the making: "Just think, when you get home, you can say, 'I saw Blink-182 make complete asses out of themselves on national television!' "

DeLonge blew a raspberry and Barker spit a loogie. And with that, it was over.

Travis Barker Talking about New Blink 182 Songs

Here's an article from MTV.com where Travis Barker talks about the speed at which Blink 182 should be writing material according to him. He wants to go all out and keep writing right through the tour.

Personally, I think that that's great. You gotta stay ambitious and ready to roll when you're working with a band of their popularity.

He also mentions that their new song is "heavier" which I really like since I'm kind of a metal-head. He said it's a mix between Blink and Boxcar Racer. Good stuff.

'I wanna work on it while we’re on tour,’ Barker says of the long-awaited new record.

Travis Barker has never been one to sit still. And when it came to his role in the reunited Blink-182, that wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

“We all got together and met up and, almost immediately, we got inspired. So it went from just playing around together to being like, ‘Let’s lay down demos! And tour!’ ” Barker told MTV News. “And, to be honest, it was crazy. I was still recovering from all my surgeries [from his September plane crash], and was way out of it when we first got back in there. I was in no shape to be in the studio, and we were kinda held back a bit. We decided to just get used to playing with each other again.”

So the trio scaled back their expectations — sure, there’d still be a record, but let’s just get this massive, laser-packed arena tour out of the way first. And once they got that sorted, it all started clicking again.

“We just started practicing for the tour, going through the old sh–, playing the greatest hits — only we’d start experimenting on them a bit, working on different versions,” Barker said. “So, it ended up that some of the old songs have new flavor to them, and then we also got around to making four demos, including one song that’s pretty much complete.”

That new song is called “Up All Night,” and Barker said Blink fans can expect to hear it out on the road this summer. He calls it both “a logical step” from where the band left off [their darker, more mature self-titled 2003 album] and a hint as to where they might be headed in the future.

“When we do go in [to make the new album], it’s gonna be like that. You can’t help but have everything on the table … all the stuff we’ve done — like +44 and Angels & Airwaves — since we last played and recorded, it will influence the new stuff,” he explained. “In the case of ‘Up All Night,’ it feels like it could’ve been on the last record, or right where the last one left off. It’s kind of heavy, if you mixed Box Car Racer and Blink. It all makes sense. The pieces are all together.”

So just when can Blink fans expect to hear that new album? Well, there are no firm dates just yet, though Barker did say the band plan on entering the studio after they wrap their tour. Oh, and they’ll also be working on it while they’re on the tour too, because, once again, Barker refuses to sit still.

“I’ll have the studio out on tour with me, and I think Mark will too. I wanna work on it while we’re on tour,” Barker said. “But that’s just me. I’m taking it day-by-day. Loving life. Working.”

SANTA MONICA — “Everything, absolutely everything, means more to me now,” said Travis Barker, the 33-year-old drummer in blink-182, following one of the first performances by San Diego's most successful rock band since it broke up four years ago.

The pop-punk trio's spirited appearance yesterday at a taping for Fuel TV's “The Daily Habit” show came less than nine months after Barker was one of two to survive a South Carolina plane crash that killed four people.

It took Barker's near-death experience to reunite the estranged members of blink after they acrimoniously disbanded in early 2005. The group, which has sold more than 13 million albums, launches its reunion tour July 24 in Las Vegas and plays Sept. 16 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista.

Its local performance will be exactly one year after Barker suffered second-and third-degree burns from his feet to his waist and on both hands when the Learjet he was on crashed on take-off. Two passengers, the pilot and the co-pilot were killed.
The Fontana native has since undergone more than a dozen surgeries and spent more time in hospitals than he cares to remember. But there was no visible or audible sign of his injuries yesterday, when more than 100 fans jammed the small studio to watch blink-182 soar back into action. The show will air June 19.

As singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, 33, and singer-bassist Mark Hoppus, 37, rocked out in front of him on the TV soundstage, Barker drummed with typical flair and finesse. Although the band was required to do several consecutive run-throughs of blink favorites “The Rock Show” and “Feeling This,” his percussive attack grew more energetic and intense with each new rendition of the songs.

“The only time when I feel free is when I'm behind my (drum) kit,” Barker said. “That's when I don't have my mind racing about, or dwelling on something, whether it's the past or the future. It's my time, when I'm just in it and I don't think about that (crash) now. I just zone out. Playing the drums is my favorite place to be.”

In a separate interview yesterday, DeLonge and Barker both sounded older and wiser as they discussed the band's reunion – and the tragedy that led to their getting back together.

“I like to think this is something positive (coming) out of something very tragic,” DeLonge said. “ ... The fact that the three of us can get together, for whatever the reason, means a lot to a lot of people, especially ourselves.”

Barker is uncomfortable discussing the crash that nearly took his life. But he left no doubt that being back together with blink is exactly where he wants to be.

“Oh, it's so fun,” said the drummer, who is married to former Playboy model Shanna Moakler and has two children. “This is a breath of fresh air.”

Barker, who was previously the drummer in The Aquabats, replaced original blink drummer Scott Raynor in 1998. The band, which was formed in 1992 in Poway by DeLonge and Hoppus, already had several albums under its belt for small record labels when Barker joined. Energized by his virtuosic drumming and the trio's constantly improving songwriting and performance skills, blink struck gold – make that platinum – with its next album, multimillion-selling “Enema of the State,” in 1999.
More hit albums and world tours followed for the band, which – like its many young fans – reveled in blink's potent mix of brash punk-rock songs about teen angst and potty-mouthed humor about sex and various bodily functions.

“It makes the live situation (on stage) fun,” Hoppus said yesterday. DeLonge, the only blink member who still lives in San Diego County, smiled. “That's how we started,” DeLonge recalled. “We'd say (stuff) to make each other laugh. And years and years later, people would laugh. It was really just a way to out-trump each other with what was the most off-color remark we could say. And it really took us places!”

By 2004, blink ranked among the biggest rock bands in the world. But personal tensions among the three members boiled over at the end of the year, following a lengthy tour. The global trek left DeLonge craving time with his wife and two children at their North County home, while Hoppus and Barker – who are both also married and have young children – were eager to resume work with blink as soon as possible. Unable to reach agreement after a series of heated arguments, the trio announced in early 2005 that it was going on “an indefinite hiatus.”

DeLonge subsequently launched his own band, the four-man Angels & Airwaves, with which he has released two albums. Barker and Hoppus regrouped in a four-man band called (+44) and released an album of their own. Yet, while neither new band fared nearly as well – commercially or artistically – as blink, this year's reunion would not have come about were it not for Barker's near-fatal plane crash.

“I don't think (a reunion) was in any of our heads a year ago,” Hoppus said. “Three years ago, I would have said it was a total impossibility; a year ago, I would have thought it was highly unlikely.”

DeLonge nodded in agreement.

“I think a year ago it probably wouldn't have been something on our minds,” DeLonge said. “But it's definitely (interesting) how rapidly things can change from day to day.”

The members of blink are now engaged in the most intense rehearsals of the band's career, in part because, as DeLonge put it, “I have a lot of anxiety right now about the tour and how big it is.”

The tour will visit 48 cities in the United States and Canada between next month and Oct. 3, when it's scheduled to conclude in Atlantic City. Recording began this year on a new album, which blink expects to complete after the tour and release next year.

Will this reunion last for only one tour and album?

“Hell, no,” Hoppus said. “I hate when bands get back together and do one tour and it feels like they're going to make a bunch of money, and then they go away for awhile and then come back again. We did this (reunion) to continue being creative and having fun. I see us continuing to tour and put out albums as long as it's fun. There's no end game and no plan at all. We enjoy playing music together, that's all.”

DeLonge laughed. “No end game, no plan and no practice,” he said. “We're just going to see where that takes us.”

Travis Barker Talks ‘Dark and Moody’ Remix Of Eminem’s ‘3 A.M.’

‘There’s not many songs I hear and trip out on, but this was one of them,’ drummer says of the Relapse track.

It’s one of the darkest, goriest songs on an album positively oozing with dark and gory songs. That’s why Travis Barker knew he had to record a version of Eminem’s “3 A.M.”

“I first heard it on some blogs, and right away, I was like, ‘Oh, damn, this is demonic,‘ and I love stuff like that.” Barker laughed. “So I spoke to [Blink-182 and Eminem manager] Paul Rosenberg and said I wanted to do a remix of it, then Em and I spoke and discussed putting a rock twist on the song, and I got to it.”

So, over the course of four very short days — during breaks from rehearsals for Blink’s upcoming tour — Barker and a pair of his engineer pals laid down live guitar and bass tracks (and, of course, a healthy dose of his patented precise-yet-pounding drums). He sent them to Em for some tweaking, then put the finished product up on YouTube, and the rest is history.

“There’s not many songs I hear and trip out on, but this was one of them. The song is really dark and moody, and so that’s what I wanted the remix to be,” Barker said. “And it was cool, because I got to work with Eminem the producer, which is something that I don’t think a lot of people get to do. He listened to it, made some tweaks and gave it the OK.”

And for Barker, it was a welcome return to the world of remixing — a world he’s dominated over the past years with his takes on Flo Rida’s “Low” and Soulja Boy’s “Crank That.” He had to take a break from remixing while recovering from the dozens of surgeries he endured after walking away from a fiery South Carolina plane crash last year.

“I hadn’t done one since I was out of the hospital, so it was time, you know?” Barker said. “This was a dope-ass song, and when things come at me that I love, I pursue them. I was due for one, and it won’t be the last.”

Live Nation Deceiving Consumers on "No Sevice Fee Wednesday"

Live Nation’s No Service Fee Wednesdays promotion has come under fire after buyers discovered that some tickets purchased today would in fact carry some Parking, Facility or Charity fees, CNN reports. Today’s No Fee promotion was supposed to offer lawn seats to every Live Nation tour without extra add-ons; typical fees tack on an average of $13 per ticket.

Many shows under the promotion’s umbrella include a $6 parking fee per ticket, a cost that is added to every ticket regardless of the buyer’s plans to drive to the venue. “We eliminated all ticket service fees, which in most cases is about a one-third discount, a substantial savings for fans by any measure,” Live Nation spokesperson John Vlautin told Rock Daily, adding that the promotion overall has received positive feedback from consumers. Vlautin, who also said that advance parking fees help alleviate back-ups at venues (where money is collected by hand), said Live Nation receives the parking fees from concerts at their own venues.

The parking charge puzzled some Live Nation customers today, but Blink-182 fans purchasing tickets to the band’s summer reunion tour faced some seriously confounding options. When Blink-182 announced the trek, the band and Live Nation revealed that lawn tickets would only cost $20. However, when tickets went on sale this past weekend, fans purchasing tix to certain shows encountered an option to buy $20 Lawn tickets or $7.75 Lawn Special tickets — Live Nation did not specify any differences between the options, like whether Lawn Special was obstructed or farther from the stage. As a result, some fans purchased the previously advertised $20 Lawn seats, only to discover that those tickets carried an additional $15 in service fees.

In actuality, Lawn and Lawn Special were the same thing, and it was the $7.75 ticket — after service fees — that was the $20 ticket. According to Vlautin, both options were listed so fans wouldn’t think the lawn seats were entirely sold out if the $20 tickets got snatched up quickly. Vlautin recommends that anybody who accidentally purchased the $20 plus fees Lawn tickets instead of the actual Lawn Special “all-in” tickets should contact Customer Service.

No Fee Wednesday tickets are being sold for the Blink shows as well. At some venues, like West Palm Beach, Florida’s Cruzan Amphitheatre, these No Fee tickets come out to $26 after the $6 parking charge, which is still more than the $7.75 “all-in” ticket price of $20 after fees. In short, Blink tickets are more expensive through the No Fee promotion — which is being heavily featured on the Live Nation Blink tour page — than they are at the regular “all-in” price. Vlautin encourages buyers to compare the ticketing options and prices before purchasing lawn seats.

Vlautin also told Rock Daily that this week only marks the first of a summer-long promotion of No Service Fee Wednesdays, with each subsequent week spotlighting a certain venue, tour or artist whose fans will benefit from no service charges.

'I think it's gonna be amazing,' Tom DeLonge says of the jaunt, which will include Weezer, Fall Out Boy and other acts.

On Thursday night in Hollywood, Blink-182 ended a four-and-a-half-year hiatus with a surprise performance at a T-Mobile party at Paramount Studios. And now that they're officially, 100 percent back, how would they rate the reunion so far?

"Awkward, weird ... a little standoffish. Me and Travis are on one side [of the studio], behind a brick wall, and Tom is outside the wall knocking," Blink's Mark Hoppus told MTV News at the event. "You ever seen that episode of 'The Odd Couple' where they drew the line down the middle of the room? Yeah, it's kind of like that."

"And there's a couple holes where we stick various parts of our bodies through," Tom DeLonge added. "It's really super strange and weird. But it rocks."

And judging by what we heard onstage Thursday night, it does, indeed, rock. So now that they've got one performance under the belt, what about Blink's much-hyped summer tour with Weezer, Fall Out Boy and a rotating list of huge acts (Taking Back Sunday, All-American Rejects, Panic at the Disco, Asher Roth and Chester French)? What can fans expect to see out on the road? Well, lots and lots of lasers, apparently.

"I think it's gonna be amazing. There are amazing bands, they're all big. When we started talking about doing the tour again ... we had all these options start popping up. It was really amazing to be able to end up on the bands we had," DeLonge said. "Usually when you go out on tour, there's a lot of negotiations as far as time and who can do what and when they can do it, or whatever ... I'm gonna be honest right now. The tour is gonna be good. Mark, after f---ing 17 years, might let me have lasers!"

"It's true," Hoppus laughed. "[Lasers] broke up our band at one point, and now it's lasers that are bringing us back together."

Blink-182 Announces Summer Tour Plans

If it hadn't been for drummer Travis Barker's near-fatal airplane crash last year, Blink-182 might not be touring this summer.

But after a five-year hiatus, Blink-182 members Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge will embark on a nearly 50-date North American arena and amphitheater tour, beginning July 24 at the Joint in Las Vegas, and wrapping Oct. 3 at the Borgata Events Center in Atlantic City, N.J.

The Live Nation-produced trek will feature support on various dates from Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, All-American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French.

"My goal was to have name-brand acts all the way," Blink-182 manager Rick Devoe tells Billboard.com.

The rock act has also tapped stage designer Martin Phillips to help create "the most ridiculous display of lights and images we can imagine," Hoppus said in a statement. Phillips has worked on tours stage designs for such artists as Kanye West, Daft Punk and Nine Inch Nails, among others.

Rumors that Blink-182 could reunite after its messy split in 2005 started last year after Hoppus posted a blog saying that Barker's survival and the death of Blink-182 producer Jerry Finn put the band members back in touch.

"Unfortunately it took something catastrophic to do it, but sometimes that's how life is," Devoe says. "These guys got together for the right reasons."

Although Blink-182 confirms it is writing new songs, "the word on the street is that this tour is about the hits," says Devoe, who couldn't say when a new album might be released. "As the rehearsals go by, we're hoping to have at least one new song in the repertoire."

The manager adds that Blink-182 fans who are short on cash this summer will be happy to learn that amphitheater lawn tickets will be available for $20. "If you have $20, you get in. No fees or anything," he says.

Tickets for the tour go on sale May 30 at livenation.com. Presenting sponsors of trek include T-Mobile Sidekick LX, State Farm Insurance and MySpace.

Beyond October, Blink-182 has offers to play Australia's Big Day Out and other European music festivals in 2010, according to Devoe. "That's what I'm hoping is going to happen," the manager says. "And in between these tours is when they're going to be working on an album."

Blink-182 doesn't plan to route another North American tour until the band releases a new album, Devoe says. He notes that Blink-182 can't work as quickly as it used to because the band members have family obligations and some live in different cities.

"Everyone has got full lives," the manager says. "It's a different Blink, in the sense that you have to pick your kids up after school, and one of your kids has dance class and the other kid has this."

Blink-182's last tour in 2004 grossed $14.4 million from 42 concerts that drew more than 421,000 fans, according to Billboard Boxscore. The trio's self-titled album in 2003 has sold 2.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The Stay Together Blink 182 remake video is one of my absolute favorites by the band. Who ever directed Blink 182's vide for this version of "Stay Together for the Kids" is an absolute genius. The shakey cameras and barking dogs with the wind blowing really puts that emotion and power on what Blink 182 says in the song. "What's My Age Again" by Blink 182 is a great song about being immature. The song is easy to relate to with the fun and realistic pranks that Blink 182 presents throughout the verses and choruses. Mark Hoppus does a great job of presenting the typical juvenile slob in 182 My Age Again when he talks about television and sodomy. They're such wild guys.

This song also fits perfectly alongside 182 The Small Things on the Enema of the State album with how innocent and fun it is. I think that Blink 182 has some really outstanding melodies with "What's My Age Again" once that chorus really starts pumping.

So recently, Blink 182's Mark Hoppus was looking through a bunch of old papers and came across the tracking sheet used in the studio for their song "All The Small Things." Talk about awesome. Here's the blog excerpt and picture of the famous tracking sheet for 182 The Small Things.

in getting ready for the blink-182 tour, we’ve been going back and listening to the original recordings of the songs. today i came across the original tracking sheet from “all the small things.” ah, the old days of tape, where you had to commit to a sound and go with it. back then we thought we were super fancy because we had the drums all recorded on one reel, and the other tracks recorded on a slave reel of 24 tracks, giving us an entire 40 tracks to record on! (the drums were all recorded on 16 track 2 inch…) nowadays, on pro-tools HD, 40 tracks is barely enough for the drums and percussion for a song sometimes.

some notes: it says “new bass” on tracks 7 & 8 after i bought the fender precision bass named “petey” halfway through the album, and wanted to re-record most of the bass parts with it. looking back at this track sheet is amazing. apparently tom used his les paul on most of the main guitar tracks. in the chorus 3rd and octave guitar tracks, it looks like a gold-top les paul was used, probably jerry finn’s. he had the most amazing collection of instruments anyone has ever seen. seeing this tracking sheet really makes me miss jerry. he was so rad.

hard to believe this was recorded 10 years ago.

anyway, i thought it’d be cool to share this tracking sheet. there are a lot more, and maybe if people are interested i’ll post them as well in the future.

"What's My Age Again" by Blink 182 has an absolutely hilarious video. It's just as good as "All The Small Things." Of course, I really can't be disappointed because I'm a huge Blink 182 nut.

However, I thought that I would type up 7 of the best things that are in the video for Blink 182's "What's My Age Again" since it's just downright awesome. Who else, but Blink 182 would have a man in a banana suit?

1. There's a man in a banana suit.

2. The boys are naked. (That one's for the ladies)

3. That sexy nurse from the Enema of the State album art is in the video. Nice.

4. Mark Hoppus scores a basket on the basketball court. Go Mark.

5. Blink 182 makes fun of a typical Gap or Old Navy commercial.

6. They all wear high songs when they're running. haha

7. The end of the video makes you wonder if they really ran nude. (I sure as heck don't know)

Blink 182's "All The Small Things" is probably one of the very first songs that I ever learned how to play on the guitar. "Dammit" by Blink 182 probably came second. I can't really remember. However, "All The Small Things" is relatively simple song to play if you have a decent time forming simple power chords on your axe.

182 The Small Things Cd Single Cover

"All The Small Things" was released by Blink 182 on their album Enema of the State, but they also released it as a single. I've found a couple covers for there single release of "All The Small Things," and I really wonder in what countries Blink 182 released these.

This cover for Blink 182's single shows the boys in line for the sexy nurse, just like in their album artwork for Enema of the State. This cover really gives that simple, fun feel that I think made Blink 182's fan base so large with the release of 182 The Small Things.

This "All The Small Things" cover simply shows the boys in all their smiling glory. I can't believe how young Blink 182 looks in this one since Travis Barker has those short dreads going instead of his hawk and Delonge's hair is quite short.

Feeling This 182 Video

Blink 182's "Feeling This" video is great and the first to stand for a specific message. The band usually goes for laughs, but Blink decided to take a more rebellious route with Feeling This 182.

I really enjoy the guitar-work for this "Feeling This" since Tom Delonge really changed up his style for the entire Blink 182 album. I found a neat site for learning guitar if you want to play guitar like Blink 182.

The video for "Feeling This" shows a school/prison with students that are forced to conform in aspects of clothing and activites. Blink 182 made it obvious that they're not treated very well either. As the video progresses, and "Feeling This" starts to hike into the final chorus, the students have ripped off their uniforms and formed an anarchist movement against the school.

I'm not exactly sure what Blink 182's intent with this video was, but it brings in a whole bushel of emotions. These emotions can be happiness, rebellion, anticonformity, rage, passion, or any other thing that "Feeling This" portrays for you. Overall, the video is dynamic and filmed well, and Blink 182 once again reigns supreme.

"Feeling This" by Blink 182 is the debut song from their surprisingly serious self-titled album. The lyrics to "Feeling This" however, has a very fun and youthful feel to it comparatively to the rest of the album. Blink 182 captures a very sexual emotion from the song with phrases like "Let me go in her room" and "I wanna take off her clothes."

I really think that these lyrics are deep and have so many subtle twists in them. I used to have a hard time writing lyrics and just singing in general, but I went to this cool site, Sing Like Blink 182, and now I'm not too bad. Check it out if you have time.

Feeling This 182 has an incredible catchy hook sung by Mark Hoppus, "Fate fell short this time. Your smile fades in the summer. Place your hand in mine. I'll leave when I wanna." I think the band really took a new spin with this album, but keeping a very active sound like "Feeling This," kept the classic Blink 182 spirit alive. I mean, you can't say it's much like 182 The Small Things, but it's freaking great.

Personally, I believe that Mark Hoppus's lyrical skills are little more advanced than Delonge's in Blink 182. You might now pick that up in "I Miss You," but usually Hoppus's lyrics tend to form very vivid pictures, based around a strong subject, whereas Delonge's sorta jump around.

Take a look at Blink 182's lyrics here for "I Miss You" and you'll notice how Mark Hoppus's extremely strong reference to The Nightmare Before Christmas is very vivid, in contrast to Tom Delonge's verse.

I Miss You 182 - Video For I Miss You By Blink 182

Blink 182's "I Miss You" video clearly presents more of the band's distinguished side. Tom Delonge is shown with his new pastel-colored guitar and Mark Hoppus with a "small" upright bass, Blink 182 style. Travis showcases a new drum pattern in "I Miss You" that's more reserved compared to most things that he's played in the past.

Of course, most of the songs on Blink 182's self-titled album present a much more tasteful side to the band. Even some of the framing and footage from "I Miss You," like the women and the small crows, set a very strong, dismal mood. Blink 182 went a very different route with this song, "I Miss You," and this video, but I think it worked out as the best thing.

182 The Small Things Popularity

Blink 182's "All the Small Things" is their major hit from Enema of the State. There's only been two songs by Blink 182 to reach the number on spot on the US Modern Rock Chart and "All The Small Things" is one of them.

It really makes me wonder what Blink 182's writing style is. Their chord progressions are so simple, yet they can produce some of the catchiest songs ever heard, like "All The Small Things" for instance.

I have a theory that Blink 182's writing is more or less based upon their vocal melodes than any other small thing. If you notice in 182 the small things, none of the melodies are taken for granted. Blink 182 sculpts every verse, chorus, and pre-chorus melody to be extremely memorable. How the heck does Blink 182 do it?

Blink 182 has more hits than I can count off the top of my head and "All The Small Things" definately isn't an exception. Apparently 182 the small things is about Tom Delonge's girlfriend and how she complained that he wrote too many songs about his ex's none about her. Well, he showed her. haha

Blink 182's "Dammit" video is just sincerely goofy. I don't think that I've seen a video that shows immature hilarity like Blink 182. In the "Dammit" video, I can barely keep my composure as Mark Hoppus gets chased around the theater on a small wooden broom used as a horse. This band hardly ever took things seriously until the release of their self-titled album, but Dammit 182's video always gives me a giggle.

Blink 182's "Dammit" is such a great, catchy song. It's pretty mind-blowing how a small song like "Dammit" can be so freakin' popular when Blink 182 only uses four chords for the entire dang thing. "Dammit" really does a great job of poking some sarcastic remarks at an ex-girlfriend who flaunts around with her new boyfriend according to 182. Blink 182's "All The Small Things" video is one of the most hilarious things that I have probably ever seen. Nobody pokes fun at boy bands and other similarly laughable music like Blink 182. In the small things video, it's just gut-busting to see the three boys of 182 dance around in white suits like the Backstreet Boys, or to see Mark Hoppus get burnt by candle wax as a fun poke at 98 Degrees. This band really has a way of making some really awesome videos, but Blink 182 the small things videos is just terrific hilarity. Enjoy!
