Travis Barker Talking about New Blink 182 Songs
Here's an article from MTV.com where Travis Barker talks about the speed at which Blink 182 should be writing material according to him. He wants to go all out and keep writing right through the tour.
Personally, I think that that's great. You gotta stay ambitious and ready to roll when you're working with a band of their popularity.
He also mentions that their new song is "heavier" which I really like since I'm kind of a metal-head. He said it's a mix between Blink and Boxcar Racer. Good stuff.

'I wanna work on it while we’re on tour,’ Barker says of the long-awaited new record.
Travis Barker has never been one to sit still. And when it came to his role in the reunited Blink-182, that wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
“We all got together and met up and, almost immediately, we got inspired. So it went from just playing around together to being like, ‘Let’s lay down demos! And tour!’ ” Barker told MTV News. “And, to be honest, it was crazy. I was still recovering from all my surgeries [from his September plane crash], and was way out of it when we first got back in there. I was in no shape to be in the studio, and we were kinda held back a bit. We decided to just get used to playing with each other again.”
So the trio scaled back their expectations — sure, there’d still be a record, but let’s just get this massive, laser-packed arena tour out of the way first. And once they got that sorted, it all started clicking again.
“We just started practicing for the tour, going through the old sh–, playing the greatest hits — only we’d start experimenting on them a bit, working on different versions,” Barker said. “So, it ended up that some of the old songs have new flavor to them, and then we also got around to making four demos, including one song that’s pretty much complete.”
That new song is called “Up All Night,” and Barker said Blink fans can expect to hear it out on the road this summer. He calls it both “a logical step” from where the band left off [their darker, more mature self-titled 2003 album] and a hint as to where they might be headed in the future.
“When we do go in [to make the new album], it’s gonna be like that. You can’t help but have everything on the table … all the stuff we’ve done — like +44 and Angels & Airwaves — since we last played and recorded, it will influence the new stuff,” he explained. “In the case of ‘Up All Night,’ it feels like it could’ve been on the last record, or right where the last one left off. It’s kind of heavy, if you mixed Box Car Racer and Blink. It all makes sense. The pieces are all together.”
So just when can Blink fans expect to hear that new album? Well, there are no firm dates just yet, though Barker did say the band plan on entering the studio after they wrap their tour. Oh, and they’ll also be working on it while they’re on the tour too, because, once again, Barker refuses to sit still.
“I’ll have the studio out on tour with me, and I think Mark will too. I wanna work on it while we’re on tour,” Barker said. “But that’s just me. I’m taking it day-by-day. Loving life. Working.”

Blink 182 Talks About the Breakup

SANTA MONICA — “Everything, absolutely everything, means more to me now,” said Travis Barker, the 33-year-old drummer in blink-182, following one of the first performances by San Diego's most successful rock band since it broke up four years ago.
The pop-punk trio's spirited appearance yesterday at a taping for Fuel TV's “The Daily Habit” show came less than nine months after Barker was one of two to survive a South Carolina plane crash that killed four people.
It took Barker's near-death experience to reunite the estranged members of blink after they acrimoniously disbanded in early 2005. The group, which has sold more than 13 million albums, launches its reunion tour July 24 in Las Vegas and plays Sept. 16 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista.
Its local performance will be exactly one year after Barker suffered second-and third-degree burns from his feet to his waist and on both hands when the Learjet he was on crashed on take-off. Two passengers, the pilot and the co-pilot were killed.
The Fontana native has since undergone more than a dozen surgeries and spent more time in hospitals than he cares to remember. But there was no visible or audible sign of his injuries yesterday, when more than 100 fans jammed the small studio to watch blink-182 soar back into action. The show will air June 19.
As singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, 33, and singer-bassist Mark Hoppus, 37, rocked out in front of him on the TV soundstage, Barker drummed with typical flair and finesse. Although the band was required to do several consecutive run-throughs of blink favorites “The Rock Show” and “Feeling This,” his percussive attack grew more energetic and intense with each new rendition of the songs.
“The only time when I feel free is when I'm behind my (drum) kit,” Barker said. “That's when I don't have my mind racing about, or dwelling on something, whether it's the past or the future. It's my time, when I'm just in it and I don't think about that (crash) now. I just zone out. Playing the drums is my favorite place to be.”
In a separate interview yesterday, DeLonge and Barker both sounded older and wiser as they discussed the band's reunion – and the tragedy that led to their getting back together.
“I like to think this is something positive (coming) out of something very tragic,” DeLonge said. “ ... The fact that the three of us can get together, for whatever the reason, means a lot to a lot of people, especially ourselves.”
Barker is uncomfortable discussing the crash that nearly took his life. But he left no doubt that being back together with blink is exactly where he wants to be.
“Oh, it's so fun,” said the drummer, who is married to former Playboy model Shanna Moakler and has two children. “This is a breath of fresh air.”
Barker, who was previously the drummer in The Aquabats, replaced original blink drummer Scott Raynor in 1998. The band, which was formed in 1992 in Poway by DeLonge and Hoppus, already had several albums under its belt for small record labels when Barker joined. Energized by his virtuosic drumming and the trio's constantly improving songwriting and performance skills, blink struck gold – make that platinum – with its next album, multimillion-selling “Enema of the State,” in 1999.
More hit albums and world tours followed for the band, which – like its many young fans – reveled in blink's potent mix of brash punk-rock songs about teen angst and potty-mouthed humor about sex and various bodily functions.
“It makes the live situation (on stage) fun,” Hoppus said yesterday. DeLonge, the only blink member who still lives in San Diego County, smiled. “That's how we started,” DeLonge recalled. “We'd say (stuff) to make each other laugh. And years and years later, people would laugh. It was really just a way to out-trump each other with what was the most off-color remark we could say. And it really took us places!”
By 2004, blink ranked among the biggest rock bands in the world. But personal tensions among the three members boiled over at the end of the year, following a lengthy tour. The global trek left DeLonge craving time with his wife and two children at their North County home, while Hoppus and Barker – who are both also married and have young children – were eager to resume work with blink as soon as possible. Unable to reach agreement after a series of heated arguments, the trio announced in early 2005 that it was going on “an indefinite hiatus.”
DeLonge subsequently launched his own band, the four-man Angels & Airwaves, with which he has released two albums. Barker and Hoppus regrouped in a four-man band called (+44) and released an album of their own. Yet, while neither new band fared nearly as well – commercially or artistically – as blink, this year's reunion would not have come about were it not for Barker's near-fatal plane crash.
“I don't think (a reunion) was in any of our heads a year ago,” Hoppus said. “Three years ago, I would have said it was a total impossibility; a year ago, I would have thought it was highly unlikely.”
DeLonge nodded in agreement.
“I think a year ago it probably wouldn't have been something on our minds,” DeLonge said. “But it's definitely (interesting) how rapidly things can change from day to day.”
The members of blink are now engaged in the most intense rehearsals of the band's career, in part because, as DeLonge put it, “I have a lot of anxiety right now about the tour and how big it is.”
The tour will visit 48 cities in the United States and Canada between next month and Oct. 3, when it's scheduled to conclude in Atlantic City. Recording began this year on a new album, which blink expects to complete after the tour and release next year.
Will this reunion last for only one tour and album?
“Hell, no,” Hoppus said. “I hate when bands get back together and do one tour and it feels like they're going to make a bunch of money, and then they go away for awhile and then come back again. We did this (reunion) to continue being creative and having fun. I see us continuing to tour and put out albums as long as it's fun. There's no end game and no plan at all. We enjoy playing music together, that's all.”
DeLonge laughed. “No end game, no plan and no practice,” he said. “We're just going to see where that takes us.”

Travis Barker Talks ‘Dark and Moody’ Remix Of Eminem’s ‘3 A.M.’
‘There’s not many songs I hear and trip out on, but this was one of them,’ drummer says of the Relapse track.
It’s one of the darkest, goriest songs on an album positively oozing with dark and gory songs. That’s why Travis Barker knew he had to record a version of Eminem’s “3 A.M.”
“I first heard it on some blogs, and right away, I was like, ‘Oh, damn, this is demonic,‘ and I love stuff like that.” Barker laughed. “So I spoke to [Blink-182 and Eminem manager] Paul Rosenberg and said I wanted to do a remix of it, then Em and I spoke and discussed putting a rock twist on the song, and I got to it.”
So, over the course of four very short days — during breaks from rehearsals for Blink’s upcoming tour — Barker and a pair of his engineer pals laid down live guitar and bass tracks (and, of course, a healthy dose of his patented precise-yet-pounding drums). He sent them to Em for some tweaking, then put the finished product up on YouTube, and the rest is history.
“There’s not many songs I hear and trip out on, but this was one of them. The song is really dark and moody, and so that’s what I wanted the remix to be,” Barker said. “And it was cool, because I got to work with Eminem the producer, which is something that I don’t think a lot of people get to do. He listened to it, made some tweaks and gave it the OK.”
And for Barker, it was a welcome return to the world of remixing — a world he’s dominated over the past years with his takes on Flo Rida’s “Low” and Soulja Boy’s “Crank That.” He had to take a break from remixing while recovering from the dozens of surgeries he endured after walking away from a fiery South Carolina plane crash last year.
“I hadn’t done one since I was out of the hospital, so it was time, you know?” Barker said. “This was a dope-ass song, and when things come at me that I love, I pursue them. I was due for one, and it won’t be the last.”
Live Nation Deceiving Consumers on "No Sevice Fee Wednesday"

Live Nation’s No Service Fee Wednesdays promotion has come under fire after buyers discovered that some tickets purchased today would in fact carry some Parking, Facility or Charity fees, CNN reports. Today’s No Fee promotion was supposed to offer lawn seats to every Live Nation tour without extra add-ons; typical fees tack on an average of $13 per ticket.
Many shows under the promotion’s umbrella include a $6 parking fee per ticket, a cost that is added to every ticket regardless of the buyer’s plans to drive to the venue. “We eliminated all ticket service fees, which in most cases is about a one-third discount, a substantial savings for fans by any measure,” Live Nation spokesperson John Vlautin told Rock Daily, adding that the promotion overall has received positive feedback from consumers. Vlautin, who also said that advance parking fees help alleviate back-ups at venues (where money is collected by hand), said Live Nation receives the parking fees from concerts at their own venues.
The parking charge puzzled some Live Nation customers today, but Blink-182 fans purchasing tickets to the band’s summer reunion tour faced some seriously confounding options. When Blink-182 announced the trek, the band and Live Nation revealed that lawn tickets would only cost $20. However, when tickets went on sale this past weekend, fans purchasing tix to certain shows encountered an option to buy $20 Lawn tickets or $7.75 Lawn Special tickets — Live Nation did not specify any differences between the options, like whether Lawn Special was obstructed or farther from the stage. As a result, some fans purchased the previously advertised $20 Lawn seats, only to discover that those tickets carried an additional $15 in service fees.
In actuality, Lawn and Lawn Special were the same thing, and it was the $7.75 ticket — after service fees — that was the $20 ticket. According to Vlautin, both options were listed so fans wouldn’t think the lawn seats were entirely sold out if the $20 tickets got snatched up quickly. Vlautin recommends that anybody who accidentally purchased the $20 plus fees Lawn tickets instead of the actual Lawn Special “all-in” tickets should contact Customer Service.
No Fee Wednesday tickets are being sold for the Blink shows as well. At some venues, like West Palm Beach, Florida’s Cruzan Amphitheatre, these No Fee tickets come out to $26 after the $6 parking charge, which is still more than the $7.75 “all-in” ticket price of $20 after fees. In short, Blink tickets are more expensive through the No Fee promotion — which is being heavily featured on the Live Nation Blink tour page — than they are at the regular “all-in” price. Vlautin encourages buyers to compare the ticketing options and prices before purchasing lawn seats.
Vlautin also told Rock Daily that this week only marks the first of a summer-long promotion of No Service Fee Wednesdays, with each subsequent week spotlighting a certain venue, tour or artist whose fans will benefit from no service charges.
